3 Bridges Marathon

Little Rock, United States of America 6 Dec, 2025

The 3 Bridges Marathon is a road marathon held in Little Rock, Arkansas, primarily along the Arkansas River Trail. The route forms a 19-mile loop to the east and a 7-mile loop to the west, for a total distance of 26.2 miles. The course is notable for crossing three significant bridges: the Big Dam Bridge at both the 1-mile and 18-mile marks, the Clinton Presidential Bridge at mile 9, and the Two Rivers Bridge at miles 19 and 26. The course’s start and finish area is also on this trail network, with runners returning to cross certain points more than once.

The terrain is predominantly paved trail and mostly flat, with the main elevation changes found at the approaches and crossings of the three bridges. Because of its relatively flat nature aside from the bridges, it is considered accessible to marathoners of varying experience levels. The course holds USATF certification and serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. All miles on the course are clearly marked, and there are trash disposal and aid stations available along the route.

Weather conditions during the event, held each December, can vary significantly, ranging from near freezing (32°F, 0°C) to mild (up to 70°F, 21°C), with the average temperature around 41°F (5°C). Participants are advised to bring clothing for variable winter conditions and can make use of a drop bag at the start/finish area.

Notable features of the event include its exclusive use of the local trail system and attention to environmental practices, such as providing trash boxes at each mile marker. The event is distinguished regionally for connecting the three major pedestrian bridges over the Arkansas River within a single course.
