Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope

Hamilton, Canada 2 Nov, 2025

The Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope takes place in Hamilton, Ontario, with all races starting and finishing in Confederation Park at 680 Van Wagner’s Beach Road. Registered runners and spectators receive free entry to the park.

The event is held annually during the first weekend of November. It features a variety of race formats including a full marathon, half marathon, 10 km and 5 km walk/runs, and a 1 km kids’ fun run, along with the “Hammer Challenge,” where participants can compete in three races over the weekend. The full marathon uses a double-loop course along Hamilton’s waterfront, while the half marathon is a single loop on the same scenic, paved route. Both courses are certified and flat, which makes them conducive to fast finishing times. The marathon course is a recognized Boston qualifier.

Race amenities include chip timing integrated in the race bib, clearly marked routes with aid stations every three kilometers offering water and electrolyte drinks, and a feed station with fruit bars during the half and full marathons. Pacers are provided at regular time intervals for both half and full marathons. The race has a cutoff time of 6.5 hours for both the half and full marathon distances.

The event is designed to be family-friendly, with spectator support at the start and finish and plentiful parking at the venue. To reduce waste, shirts are no longer automatically included in registration, but are available for pre-order. Past participants note the accessible course layout, professional organization, and the scenic views of Lake Ontario throughout the run.

The event typically sees cool weather in early November, and field sizes in recent years have ranged from approximately 470 to 650 marathon finishers. Post-race offerings include snacks and drinks, and finishers receive a medal. The marathon supports a charity focus as suggested by the ‘Road2Hope’ name, integrating an ethos of community contribution into the event.
