The Gobbler Grind Marathon is among the oldest marathon events in Kansas, held annually for nearly thirty years in Johnson County. Established in the late 1990s by Mike English and colleagues from Garry Gribbles Running Sports, the event began as a friendly competition along paved trails that almost connected two store locations between Ward Parkway and Stoll Park. As paved running trails became accessible, the route facilitated a full marathon distance.
